Title: Temporal Reasoning with Fluid Qualities

Abstract: Current temporal modeling methods use first-order logic as a carrier for representing and reasoning about time-dependent knowledge. Alternatively, we introduce an approach focused on a graph-based data structure, which we call a hypergraph. Its purpose is to capture the evolution of a modeled domain, its properties and the events that change them. Based on our method, we introduce a declarative language, similar to CLIPS, that allows the specification of temporal behavior. We illustrate the applicability of our method and language for defining intelligent, time-dependent device behavior, in smart homes.
